What to expect

Protest Camps are a tradition in the European climate and environmental movement, from occupations in Scotland like the Mainshill Solidarity Camp to the big mass action camps in France and Germany.

The camps bring together hundreds if not thousands of activists to learn, train and live together in a collaborative, inclusive and participatory way of life, creating a space to build our movement and a lived vision for the future.

The camps are also staging points for direct action, from smaller affinity group actions to mass actions with hundreds of activists at once.

In Scotland, our goal is to challenge the fossil fuel industry in their own territory. By holding the camp in the vicinity of fossil fuel infrastructure, we reclaim space from oil and gas, connect with local communities forced to live next to fossil fuels, provide a contact point for oil and gas workers, and directly challenge the dominance of the industry over the area.

Climate Camp Scotland 2025

Climate Camp Scotland's theme in 2025 will be dismantling fossil fascism. We think climate justice and anti-fascism go hand in hand. Far-Right regimes everywhere fetishise fossil fuel extraction to finance their corruption and violent expansion. From Trump’s “Drill Baby Drill” against native communities, Russia’s gas extractivism on indigenous land to finance their war against Ukraine, to the UK’s Nigel Farage’s oil and gas obsession, climate justice means dismantling the far-right.

Where?

But how do I get there?

you can get to camp in many different ways:

🚂 Train: you can take a train to Croy train station and from there it is a 50 minute walk

🚌 or from Croy its a short ride on the 344 bus to the Alexander Avenue bus stop.

🚗 Drive: We understand that for some people, taking public or active transport is not an option so we have a limited number of parking spots.

🚲 Cycle: Bikes can be locked up on site. Bring a bike lock.

🛥️ Canal boat: if you really want to...

🚓 Police car: Dont bother

Climate Camp Scotland this year will be near Glasgow in a village called Twechar. The exact location of camp will be announced on the 21st July. This year we have a permissive site meaning that our site is not squatted as it has been in previous years. This may mean that we have a smaller police presence at camp.
